Silicon nitride ceramic, with a chemical formula of Si3N4, belongs to the category of high-performance structural ceramic materials known for its high hardness and heat-resistant properties. Widely utilized in the mechanical industry, this combination finds applications in pistons, plungers, rollers, cutting tools, pump columns, core shafts, and sealing materials, thanks to the outstanding thermal shock resistance, oxidation resistance, wear resistance, and corrosion resistance of silicon nitride ceramic material. With a Vickers hardness reaching around HV2300, equivalent to a Rockwell hardness of HRA96-97, silicon nitride ceramic presents higher hardness compared to conventional tungsten carbide materials with a hardness range of HRA86-93, posing greater challenges in precision dimension processing.
